Short review of golf courses in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic. 

 

With it’s spectacular and breathtaking layout along the coastline to the Atlantic Ocean this golf course is more than deserving of a visit.8 holes are either playing to or along the ocean giving golf players both spectacular views, unforgettable shots over water and of course quiet a few tests to the individual players ability to focus on the short cut grass rather then on the blue element. With tee boxes giving you a course stretching from 4483 to 7090 yards this course will accommodate most players.

 

Simply a magnificent golf course would be the short version of describing it. Brilliantly cut through 3 different types of landscape the Roco Ki Golf Course offers players a diversity of holes rarely seen on just one course. 

 

La Cana Golf Course is a tough and beautiful golf course set along the ocean with 4 holes playing along the ocean. Fairways are generally wide leaving plenty of room for a drive. However most greens have an easier approach from one side rather then the other. To be considered a very nice and well kept golf course.

 

Cocotal Golf Course is a nice park type golf course that is set as the centerpiece of a housing project/resort. The golf course also serves the guest of primarily the Melia resort situated between the golf course and the beach. The Cocotal Golf Course consists of 27 holes. A nice and well maintained golf course that does tend to get a bit boring as many of the holes look the same.

 

Punta Blanca Golf Course located just to the north west of Bávaro is one of the areas more well maintained golf courses. Fairways are most of the year in good condition. The greens are also in nice shape however a bit to the soft side. A nice golf course with plenty of interesting shots.

 

A nice and challanging golf course that plays fair. Set as the center piece of a residential housing resort. Designed by P B Dye which is an almost certain guarantee for massive landscaping on the golf course. Iberostate Golf Course is no exception regarding that.

 

Well designed golf course where the layout on espceially front 9 will leave you to believe you have it all to yourself as only the hole you are playing is vissable. The Cana Bay Moom Palace Golf Course is especially attractive if you do not like to much water when playing golf. Some lakes can be found but not as many as on some of the other golf courses in the area.

 

Inland golf course set just to the south east of the beach town Bávaro. What lags is an overall plan for the layout of the course which may leave the player with a somewhat confused impression of the course. However looking at the individual holes you will find plenty of interesting shot amongst them a par 3 with an island green. Maintenance is average. However the greens are some of the best found in the area and can be measured against some of the golf courses that cost a lot more to play then Catalonia Caribe Golf Course. 

 

This golf course has the layout to potentially be one of the better golf courses in the area especially if only ranked against other inland golf courses. This golf course gives a challenge to most players but not in an unfair way. It has difficult and narrow holes but also the shorter risk reward holes that many golfers enjoy playing. However the maintenance of the White Sands Golf Course leaves a lot behind which is why many of the other courses is to be recommended over this.

 

Resort golf course that is currently being redesigned by Pete Dye. First 9 of the redesigned holes are scheduled to open winter 2010. The other 9 holes will then be redesigned summer 2010.

 

Inland golf course set above the Chavon giving some excellent views and interesting shots. La Estancia Golf Course is the center piece of a residential housing resort. The golf course is set in hill country side and if that isn't enough P B Dye is the designer which guarantees plenty of landscaping to get just the right slopes in play.

 

Beautiful layout along the coastline at Casa de Campo facing the Caribbean ocean the Teeth of the Dog Golf Course is a breathtaking golfing experience when it comes to the view and the game as well. With several shoots having to carry 100 yards of cliffs and ocean this course demands that the player keeps focus on the shot and the short grass rather than all the stuff in between. 

 

Classy golf course with plenty of built in excitement for the few players that visit this course every year. La Romana Golf Course is in excellent condition and offers great golf. Build as the centrepiece of a housing development project this course is privately owned and is only open for the few that either own a home or are guest of owners. However depending on how busy the course is there might be a chance to play the La Romana Golf Course. 

 

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Casa de Campo along the river Chavon giving players a magnificent view of both river and ocean. Furthermore the layout of the Dye Fore Golf Course also insures that anyone that can keep focus on the game will have a day of golf that will be remembered for a long time.
